Maria Massaad
In her surreal and emotionally charged oil paintings, Maria Massaad (Lebanon, 1999) tends to unacknowledged wounds, rendering the inner world through networks of intertwined bodies and systems that guide the viewer from one scene to another, like veins circulating life between organs. In a world where silence is often preferred, Massaad approaches painting as a process of dissection, a cut beneath the surface and a confrontation with what lies within. Her biomorphic forms and unsettling landscapes operate as psychological, spiritual, and physical terrains where the boundaries between interior and exterior dissolve.
